Joshua Martin

With 16 years of professional experience, Mr. Joshua Martin (Josh) began his career in 2009 where he was a Special Education Teacher at Hebron Public Schools in Hebron Connecticut until 2013.  In 2013, he received a promotion within the Hebron Public School District as the Director of Pupil Services/Assistant Principal. A dual role he performed until 2015.  From there he accepted the position of Director of Pupil Services at East Haddam Public Schools where he served from 2015 to 2025. Additionally, Josh was the Summer School Director in Hebron during the summers of 2011 and 2012 as well as the Special Education Facilitator in Hebron from 2011 to 2013.

During the summers of 2012 to 2016, Josh provided instruction for graduate students seeking special education certification in Connecticut working as an Adjunct Professor of Education at the University of Connecticut.

Josh graduated in 2002 from the Central Connecticut State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science.  He continued his education by attending the University of St. Joseph where he earned his Master of Science degree in Special Education in 2009.  He then attended Sacred Heart University where he received his Administration Certification in 2012.

Below are some quotes from Josh’s former colleagues:

“The leadership team join me in relying on Josh for wise counsel and they know that he always is advising with the best interests of students while intentionally being supportive of their leadership even when he is delivering messages that are not easy to hear.  He has a ‘matter of fact’ style that is appreciated by colleagues and parents alike.”

“Joshua has fostered many positive relationships with the students, staff as well as the parent community.  He is truly interested in the students that walk the halls of our district schools and their journey toward success post high school.”

“As an advocate for students, families, and educators, he is second-to-none.  His respect for the dignity of each student and his social justice lens guide his decision-making and manner of engagement.  He has approached his leadership roles from the perspective of the well-being of the whole child long before “social-emotional learning” became a part of the educational vernacular.”

We are both excited and happy for Josh as he begins his new role as the Director of Student Support Services and pleased that he is a part of the East Granby Public Schools Family.

Please give him a warm welcome!
