EAST GRANBY, CT — The East Granby Board of Education is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Suzanne M. Palmieri as the district’s next Superintendent of Schools, effective immediately. The board voted unanimously at a special meeting held on August 13, 2025.

Ms. Palmieri brings over two decades of educational leadership and classroom experience to her new role. Her K-12 journey began as a Social Studies teacher, a role she adored. Her dedication to education also extends to the collegiate level, where she has taught Sociology for over 24 years.

In addition to her extensive teaching background, she has served in several full-time administrative leadership roles within higher education, bringing a wealth of knowledge, post secondary partners, and a broad perspective on educational systems to her new position.

Currently the Director of Strategic Initiatives for Hartford Public Schools, Ms. Palmieri has been a key leader in driving innovation and improving student outcomes. Her work has been recognized with a Yandow Educator of the Year award in 2023 for her creative use of the arts to foster student growth.

Ms. Palmieri holds a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Sociology from Albertus Magnus College and Fordham University, respectively. She also holds a Sixth-Year Certificate in Educational Leadership from Southern Connecticut State University and Superintendent certification from Sacred Heart University.

An advocate for joyful, student-centered learning environments, Ms. Palmieri’s leadership philosophy emphasizes academic rigor, innovation, and community engagement. “I’m thrilled to join a district that so clearly values student achievement and whole-child development,” she said. “East Granby’s commitment to excellence and innovation aligns perfectly with my vision for education. I look forward to partnering with families, educators, and the entire community to ensure our students thrive.”

Board of Education Chair Bob Paskiewicz praised the appointment, stating:

“The search for our new Superintendent was thorough and inclusive. We actively sought input from the community through focus groups and surveys, and we were fortunate to have a very strong pool of candidates. Suzanne Palmieri stood out as a dynamic and visionary leader. Her enthusiasm, expertise, and student-first approach make her a great fit for East Granby. We are excited to welcome her as we embark on a new school year.”
